AstaReal AB today presents its Sustainability Report for 2024. The company is updating its sustainability targets with a focus on reducing emissions and water consumption in production.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor us, sustainability is about combining science, health, and responsible production in a way that works long term,\u201d says Daniel Flodqvist, CEO of AstaReal AB.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AstaReal AB\u2019s updated sustainability targets include cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions per kg of produced product by 50 percent by 2027, using 2023 as the baseline year. The company\u2019s long-term ambition is also to achieve net zero emissions by 2045, in line with Sweden\u2019s national climate targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have adjusted our sustainability targets to better reflect both our operations and the ongoing changes within the sustainability landscape. Our new climate targets provide a clear direction for the continued work to reduce climate impact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt the same time, our production facility in Gustavsberg continues to contribute to local energy recovery through our partnership with Vattenfall. Through heat recovery, we supply energy corresponding to approximately 20 percent of Gustavsberg\u2019s district heating demand, equivalent to heating around 2,000 households.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reduced water consumption and focus on circular solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AstaReal AB\u2019s second updated sustainability target is to reduce water consumption per kg of produced product by 50 percent by 2027, compared to the 2023 baseline year. During 2024, the company reduced its total water consumption in operations by approximately 17 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo we have already come a long way. At the same time, feasibility studies are ongoing regarding circular water solutions, reuse of CO\u2082, and further optimization of heat recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AstaReal AB has also reduced resource use in packaging, including through a transition to simpler and more material-efficient packaging solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to continue developing both products and processes with a focus on quality, science, and a more resource-efficient way of working. This is an important part of our long-term development within health and nutrition,\u201d says Daniel Flodqvist, CEO of AstaReal AB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
