AstaReal AB has appointed Phoung Pihlträd as its new Head of Quality and Sustainability. In her new role, she will play a central part in developing the company’s quality and sustainability work.
“Phoung combines a broad scientific and industrial background with extensive experience in processes, quality and development,” says Daniel Flodqvist, CEO of AstaReal AB.
Phoung Pihlträd is a process engineer and nutritionist with experience from the pharmaceutical and food industries. Her background primarily includes work in process validation, product development and quality management, complemented by interdisciplinary research in occupational physiology and urban planning.
“There is a strong scientific foundation and highly advanced production within the company, from algae cultivation to the processing of finished products. The combination of these elements was a major reason why I wanted to join AstaReal,” says Phoung Pihlträd, Head of Quality and Sustainability at AstaReal AB.
As Head of Quality and Sustainability, Phoung and her team work across AstaReal AB’s entire operations. Their role includes ensuring that the company meets regulatory requirements as well as external requirements from customers and other stakeholders. An important part of the role is also to support the organization in developing processes, driving improvements and creating the conditions for consistently high quality.
“There is a clear sense of passion and a great deal of expertise within the company. My role is to understand the needs and challenges of the different parts of the organization and, together with the teams, identify opportunities to further develop our ways of working, processes and quality,” says Phoung Pihlträd.
Phoung succeeds Kurt Haglund, who has been part of AstaReal AB for many years and was involved as early as the company’s first years at Uppsala University.
“Kurt has meant a great deal to the company and has helped build important knowledge and expertise over the years. With Phoung, we bring in new experience and perspectives while continuing to build on the work that has already been done,” says Daniel Flodqvist, CEO of AstaReal AB.
